Ravens Hill 500-Year Forest
Ravens Hill Forest in southern Albemarle County is roughly 133 woodland acres with geological and soil attributes of both the Blue Ridge Mountains and Piedmont Plateau physiographic sections and Cook Mountain as a defining feature. It is well-stocked and has the feel of a largely undisturbed forest whose overstory, understory, and herbaceous layers are healthy and intact. Owners Peter and Susan Dutnell run a hay and livestock operation on their non-forested acres.
